GO AHEAD - Ensemble for New Music - was formed in 1990 on the initiative of the composers Christian Banasik , Ralf R. Ollertz and Marina Panayiotou in Duesseldorf, Germany
GO AHEAD is comprised of a group of ten musicians spanning over virtually the entire spectrum of orchestral instruments, including variable formations ranging
from solo performances to the entire ensemble. GO AHEAD´s main focus is the interpretation of chamber music written after 1950.
GO AHEAD rehearses in regular sessions the works of international composers, most often in personal collaboration with them. Its repertoire boasts a large number of compositions of different styles, with the accent on presenting rarely performed works.
Other areas in which GO AHEAD is involved include the realisation of electronic works as well as close collaboration with artists and dancers. In this way contemporary dance, performance and New Music combine to form intermedial projects of outstanding originality.
